CUMBERLAND Grace C. Crabtree, 84, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018, at the Cumberland Healthcare Center.Born May 15, 1934, in Southampton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Austin VanMeter and Elsie (Ault) VanMeter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Crabtree, of Oldtown, who passed away January 8, 2012.Grace worked at the Credit Bureau and the Oldtown Toll Bridge.She was a member of the Oldtown United Methodist Church, where she was the congregational pianist, and later the Friendship Haven Church.Grace enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and playing the piano. Most of all, she liked cooking for family and friends.Surviving are two sons, Terry Crabtree and wife Kim, Rock Hill, SC, Robert Crabtree and wife Debra, AZ; daughter, Susan Johnson and husband Michael, Cumberland, MD; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Maynard VanMeter and wife Sharon, Warrensburg, IL, Donald VanMeter and wife Lavonne, Cresaptown, MD, Melvin VanMeter, Cumberland, MD, and Leonard VanMeter and wife Carla, Flintstone, MD; and a number of nieces and nephews.Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11 am with Pastor Floyd Bender officiating. Interment will be in MD State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap.In lieu of flowers, donations in Grace's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
