OLDTOWN – Gregg P. Abe, 56, of Oldtown, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at UPMC – Shadyside, Pittsburgh, PA. Born on December 1, 1963, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Patricia Diane Abe. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Vertus (Santmyire) Abe; uncles, Fred Abe, William Abe, Terry Abe, and Kenneth Abe; and aunts, Debra Loar, Bonnie Noland, and Shirley Yaider. Gregg was a 1982 graduate of Oldtown High School. He worked for Makco Inc. Guardrail in Charlottesville, VA, for 36 years. Gregg enjoyed attending live concerts and going on music cruises. He was always willing to help those in need, and never met a stranger. Gregg always gave a phone call to his friends and family, just checking in. Gregg is survived by his aunt, Sara K. Paxton and husband Alan, Cumberland, Bea Abe, Cresaptown, Patty Abe, Oldtown; cousins, Stephanie Yaider, Cumberland, Adam Abe and wife Stacy, and their daughter Katie, Oldtown, Fred Abe and wife Ann, Rawlings, Mike Santmyire and wife Terri, Oldtown, and Darrell Huff and wife Becky, Flintstone; special friends, Kate Taylor, Keith Whittington, Carson Yoder, Dave Shryock and wife Bunny, Steve College, Juan Garcia, Andy and Kathy Harris, Scott and Tracey Stumbaugh, Claude Slaydon, Tony Haan, and Dave and Debbie Knoche; godson, Freddie Abe; as well as numerous extended family members, friends too many to count, and his Makco work family. Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 11 a.m. with his cousin, Mike Santmyire officiating.
