CUMBERLAND Harold W. Deaver, Sr., 85, of Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.Born on March 19, 1933, in Hampshire County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Jennings B. and Mildred N. (Foltz) Deaver. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by, his son, Bryan Deaver.Harold was a 1951 graduate of Paw Paw High school. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Harold was a member of the Winifred Road Church of Christ. He retired from CSX Railroad after over thirty years of service.Harold is survived by his daughter, Rhonda L. Dean and husband Wayne, Winchester, VA; his son, Harold W. "Rocky" Deaver, Jr. and wife Connie, Salisbury, NC; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Beeler, Marietta, PA; brother, Jerry Deaver, Paw Paw, WV; as well as several nieces and nephews.Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Sunday, May 27, 2018 from 1 to 2 p.m.A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Pastor Leo Lavin officiating.Military Honors will be accorded by the Fort Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.Inurnment will be in the Maryland State Veterans' Cemetery, Rocky Gap at a later date.The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to either the Building Fund at Winifred Road Church of Christ, 936 Winifred Road, Cumberland, MD 21502, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.Condolences for the family may be left at www.ScarpelliFH.com
