Cumberland, MD - Harriet Eudora (Apple) Cowan, Cumberland, MD, age 87, left this life to join her Lord and Savior in Heaven on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

She was born July 22, 1936 in Warfordsburg, PA. She was the daughter of the late Ambrose N. Apple, Sr. and Margaret E. (Powell) Apple.

She graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1954. She previously worked at Shepherd Pratt Hospital in Sykesville, MD, Crystal Laundry, Rex News Agency and for Dr. DeMartino, DDS all in Cumberland, MD. She loved her family and had a heart for animals, especially her cats who were her loved furry kids. She had a heart for anyone in need. She had a beautiful and kind heart and soul and prayed for her family and friends. One of her favorite hymns was "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" which she would often sing. She liked to draw and write poems. Her family will deeply miss her, but as she believed, we joyously anticipate the time when we will be reunited with her and our other loved ones in Heaven for all eternity.

She is survived by one daughter, Denise Stahle; two sons, Greg Cowan (Misty Miller), and Tom Vassallo (Sandy Tomsic); eight grandchildren, Steve Coley, John Coley, Eric Rosenberger, Holli Vassallo, Breanna Vassallo, Jesse Torres Ponce, Anna Hamberg and Sarah Ponce; eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Norma DeWitt; niece, Karen Shoap; and nephews, Mike Shoap, Eddie Apple, Mitch Steffey and Steve Steffey.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ambrose Apple, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 10am to 12pm at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at 12pm with Pastor Tim Close officiating. Burial will be at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, 5806 Flickerville Road, Warfordsburg, PA.
