Cumberland Hazel B. McElfish, 92, of Cumberland, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019, at the Allegany Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Born on November 28, 1926 in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Viola Mae (Wright) Fleek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. McElfish, who passed away on August 27, 1974; sisters, Irma Jane Kastina, Almeta Davis, and Lula Marie Bryner.Hazel was a homemaker who had been employed at Montgomery Ward's Department Store, and Drug Fair Pharmacy. She was a member of Central Assembly of God Church.Hazel is survived by her son, David L. McElfish and wife Peggy, Cumberland; grandchildren, Brooke A. McElfish, and Matthew Kostovick and wife Julie, Finzel; and great-grandchildren, Luke Kostovick, and Gwendolyn Kostovick.Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, Thursday, May 16, 2019, from 4-7 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, May 17, 2019, at 1 P.M. with Rev. Diane Smith officiating.
