CUMBERLAND-Helen Matilda Cunningham, 95, of Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Allegany Health-Nursing and Rehabilitation.Born on August 23, 1920, in Rossford Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Emory and Anna (Mensares) Lorenc`. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leo Cunningham; five brothers, Louis, James, Vincent, and Ernest; and four sisters, Erma, Gyori, Mary Bryson, Anna Weeks and Agnes Drace.Mrs. Cuningham worked as a sales clerk for Rosenbaum's and Kings Department Store and White Cross Pharmacy. She was a member of the Saint Mary's Catholic Church and the church sodality. Helen was a former President of the Western Maryland Labor Council Senior Citizens and a former President of Senior Retirement Club. She was a member of the Bowling Green Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Fourth District Democratic Women Club. Helen volunteered at Frostburg State University, Salvation Army, and V.F.W. Auxiliary.Surviving are her daughter, Mary Helen Hudnall, Statesville, N.C.; one son, Joseph L. Cunningham, Hagerstown; two grandchildren, Travis A. Fritz and Dillon Hudnall; one brother, William Lorence and wife Rose of Adrian Mich; and one sister, Viola Hoffman, Indianapolis, Ind.Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A. 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday, March 9, from 6 to 8 p.m.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Mountains, St. Mary's Catholic Church on Thursday, March 10, at 10:00 a.m.Interment will be in Maryland State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap, Flintstone, Md."Like" Scarpelli Funeral Home on Facebook to view obituaries and send condolences.
