Helen Rose Dugan, 90, of Riverdale, MD and recently of Cumberland, MD, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home October 2, 2026.

She was born July 26, 1936 in Rowlesburg, WV to the late Roy and Rachel Shannon. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dugan; and all four of her siblings, Dee, Ralph, Darrell, and Tillie.

Helen graduated from Buckhannon High School. She had a long career in food service for Prince George's County Public Schools. Cake decorating was a passion for her and loved making wedding and birthday cakes.

She is survived by her children, Cindy Sanford and husband Danny Sanford, Ronald Dugan, and Everett Dugan Sr.; six grandchildren Danny Sanford Jr., Brent Sanford, Rebecca Sanford, Rachel Sanford, Calista Dugan, and Everett "Tookie" Dugan Jr.; Helen had six great grandchildren, Vincent Sanford, Sofia Sanford, Logan Sanford, Brody Sanford, Paige Jessen, and Dyanah Dugan-Tyson; and her large extended family.

A graveside service conducted by the family will be held Friday, October 9th, arrival at the cemetery will be at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd NE, Brentwood, MD 20722.
