Obituary

CUMBERLAND – Helen Arline Kasecamp, 91, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Devlin Manor Nursing and Rehab.

Born May 14, 1932, in Ridgeley, WV, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Kenneth and Ethel May (Twigg) Kirk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James William Kasecamp, Sr.; siblings, Catherine O'Brien, Calvin Kirk, Walter Kirk, Edward Kirk, Edgar Kirk, Alfred Kirk, Shirley Cutchall, and Norma Johnson.

Helen was a 1950 graduate of Ridgeley High School. She went on to work for C&P Telephone Company for over 38 years before she retired in 1992.

She was a faithful member of the First Church of Nazarene, and she was a lifetime member of the Goodfellowship Club. Helen volunteered her time to the Tel. Co. Pioneers, Salvation Army, and beginning in 1994, Western Maryland Food Bank.

She truly never met a stranger and to know Helen was to love her. She enjoyed playing Bingo and participating in activities that allowed her to be around people. Helen meant a great deal to many people.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Debbie Kasecamp for going the extra mile to make sure that Helen always had what she needed. They would also like to thank Pastor Steve Monington and Pastor Gary Barkley for their help and support.

Helen leaves behind her sons, James Kasecamp (Debbie) and Kenneth Kasecamp (Nancy); daughters, her main caretaker and best friend, Lynda Kasecamp, June Kasecamp, and Betty McLaughlin (Pat); grandchildren, Aaron Kasecamp (Misty), Todd Kasecamp (Valerie), Ashley Rose (Clint), Helen "Beth" McWilliams, Kimberley VanAlstine (Allan), Rhonda Campagna (Nick), and Cheryl Wilt (Michael); 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many special friends who loved and cherished her.

In accordance with her wishes, her body will be cremated.

A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 11am with Pastor Gary Barkley and Pastor Steve Monington officiating.
