Jacqueline Sue Butts, 76, of Cumberland and Frederick, MD passed away peacefully July 16, 2026 at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab, Cumberland.

She was born April 18, 1950 in Elkins, WV to the late James and Gladys (Haddix) Boxell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Cindy Boxell; and the father of her children, Gary "Bucky" Butts.

Jacque graduated from Frederick Community College and had a career with the Frederick County Government as a social worker. She lived a life of service and tried to make everyone's life better. She volunteered at the Heartly House which is a shelter for women survivors of domestic violence.

A devoted Catholic she was known for attending mass every Sunday in the front row. Also she loved her dogs, playing tennis, and vacationing at the beach.

Above all else she was an excellent mother and devoted everything to rising her sons.

Surviving her are two sons, Paul Christopher Butts and Brian E. Butts and wife Beata; grandchildren, Aerianna Butts (Mark Godaire), Gracen Butts, Emma Butts, and Amelia Butts; great-grandchildren, Luna and Isla; and her large extended family and many friends.

In accordance with her wishes she was cremated.

Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm with Fr. Steve Fernandes, OFM, Cap. officiating.
