James "Jim" Clement Carr, 81, of Cumberland, passed away surrounded by his wife and three daughters, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at his home.
Born June 7, 1944, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Alfred and Leona (Cosgrove) Carr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Colleen Mickey and husband, Glen, Vincent Carr and wife, Ruth, Mary Catherine Smith and husband, Frank and siblings-in-law, Doris Whiteman and husband, Bill, June Pryor and husband, Clarence, Ray, Dennis, Richard, Stephen, and Robert Shambaugh, Gene Poland, Ray Witt and wife, Elizabeth "Libby".
Jim attended Allegany High School. He began working for the City of Cumberland and retired after 28 years of service. Jim was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Mountains Parish.
Jim is survived by loving wife, Virginia "Ginny" Carr; children; Shelly Carr, Christa Brakeall and husband, Hunter and Terri Stevenson and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Lindsay Carr, JT Stevenson, Allan James Stevenson, and Camryn Brakeall; loving sister, Betty Poland; and siblings-in-laws, Frank Shambaugh and wife, Kay, Ronald Shambaugh and wife, Stephanie, Lois, Donna and Linda Shambaugh, and Shelia Shaffer and husband, Glen. Jim had a great love for family, especially his three daughters and his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow with Father Stephen Fernandes, O.F.M. Cap. and Pastor Rob Pierson officiating.
Pallbearers will be J.T. Stevenson, Allan James Stevenson, Hunter Brakeall, Scott Stevenson, Dick King, and Bill Carr.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to be made to a charity of the donor's choice in honor of Jim Carr.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to UPMC Western Maryland Home Hospice for the great care and support given to Jim.
