Cumberland – James W. Clark, 95, of Cumberland, went to heaven in his own home in the care of his loving family on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

Born in Cumberland, MD, on March 24, 1928, James was the son of the late Ralph E. Clark and Idella Grace Shinholt-Clark. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth Clark; and all of his siblings, John "Jack" Clark, George Clark, Edward Clark, Robert Clark, Sarah Grace Clark, Emilee Clark, Mary Jane Holbrock, Michael "Mick" Clark.

James served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He then worked for 42 years with the Celanese Corp. He was known for being able to fix anything and even built his own home. James was a loving husband and father. He will be sadly missed by his family.

James is survived by his son, Ralph James Clark, Cumberland, MD; daughter, Mary Teresa Lewis and husband John Lewis, Hilton Head Island, SC; grandchildren Amie Clark, Williamsburg, VA, and Christopher John Lewis, Jacksonville, FL; great-grandchildren Destinie Clark, Mercedie Clark, Caden Darber, and Greenlie Johnson.

In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services.

The family would like to thank UPMC Hospice for their excellent care; those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to direct them to the Western Maryland Health System Foundation, 12500 Willowbrook Rd, Cumberland, MD 21502 There will be no visitation services.
