James J. Dunn, 92, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Peace Healthcare at Lions Center. Born on August 23, 1932, in Clarksburg, WV, James was the son of the late Thomas Edward and Mary Margaret (Herd) Dunn.

While attending LaSalle High School, James enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his service, he was called to duty in the Korean War, an experience that deeply shaped his life. He often spoke fondly of his time in the Marines and his travels through Europe. Following his return, he pursued higher education at Frostburg State University, where he served as the freshman class president.

Often lovingly referred to as "Jim," he began his career at PPG Industries, rising to a supervisory role that later paved the way for a successful career as an independent contractor in the tool distribution industry. He retired in his mid-70s, having built a reputation for hard work, integrity, and dedication.

James and Rosalie S. Dunn wed on June 28, 1958, embarking on a beautiful journey together and later welcoming five children into their lives.

James is survived by his daughter, Kelly Mackie and her husband, Tim; his son, James "Fitz" Dunn and his partner, Yvette Cardone; his daughter, Kerry Dunn and her fiancé, Patrick Mann; and his son, Thomas Dunn. He was a proud grandfather to Raleigh Davis and her husband, Rich; Haven Mackie; Jena Dunn; Cheyenne Troutman and her husband, Brandon; Dakota Mackie and his partner, Kandi Williamson. He was also blessed with great grandchildren, Kellen and Jase Davis, Cheylee, Brooklyn and Maverick Troutman. James is also survived by his brothers, Patrick and John Dunn and special friend, Larry Geiger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosalie S. Dunn; his son, Bryan P. Dunn; and his grandson, Bradey J. Loffert.

Jim's passions included golfing, reading, card playing at the Knights of Columbus, and spending Sundays enjoying football and family dinners. His warmth, humor, and storytelling left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Friday, January 10, from 12-2 pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2 pm, officiated by Fr. John Daya, OFM, Cap. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, with military honors accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
