Cumberland – James Leo Headley, 81, of Frostburg, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024 at his home.

Born January 9, 1943, he was the son of the late Russell Joseph Headley and May Flora (Appold) Headley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Russell and Charles Headley; Mary Gentry; Sylvia Lee, Edna Shroyer, Lillian Garletts and Frances Arbogast. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

James was 1961 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He was a retired custodian from the Allegany County Board of Education.

He loved animals, but truly lived for his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He loved them so much.

He especially loved his "scratch off" tickets.

He had a heart of gold. He never knew a stranger.

He was an active member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Humbird Street until the past two years when he became unable to attend.

James is survived by his loving wife, Judy Ann Headley; his children James Joseph Headley (Amy), Robert Sensabaugh (Dee), Richard E. Sensabaugh (Melissa), Elena Steele (Ron), 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

And numerous nieces and nephews. "He was a lucky man".

Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Rob Pierson officiating.
