CRESAPTOWN – James "Jim" William Moore, Jr., 88, of Cresaptown, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025 at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born December 17, 1936, in Cresaptown, he was the son of the late Ruth (Holler) and James William Moore, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Crane Moore.

Jim was a graduate of Allegany High School. He went on to earn an associate's degree from Potomac State College, and he graduated with both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Frostburg State University. Jim served his country in the United States Army. He was an educator for 28 years with the Allegany County Board of Education. Following his retirement from the Board of Education, he opened his gun shop, Moore's Huntin' and Fishin'.

Jim was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and sportsman who completed two safaris to Africa. He also attended Cresaptown United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his sons, James Moore, III (Catherine) and Jeremy Moore (Brittanie); grandchildren, Julia Rachelle Moore, Hannah Grace Moore, James William Moore, IV, Elizabeth Crane Moore, and Esther Rebekah Moore; and former wife and mother of his children, Vivian (Crane) Moore.

In accordance with his wishes, Jim's body will be cremated.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 11am to 1pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1pm with Rev. Harold McClay, Jr. officiating.
