KEYSER – James Franklin McKenzie, 73, of Keyser, WV, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Born March 1, 1950, in Frostburg, MD, he was the son of the late James and Freda (Shrock) McKenzie. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Roslie DeVore; brothers-in-law, Robert Reed, Sr., Jeff McKenzie, and Ricky McKenzie.

James was a graduate of Mount Savage High School. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army, and then retired as a supervisor at Westvaco Paper Mill after 27 years of employment.

James was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mount Savage.

One of his greatest joys was playing basketball at the Mount Savage basketball courts and at Mount Savage School, where he also played soccer under Robert Kirk.

James leaves behind his loved ones including son, Ryan James McKenzie; sister, Polly Reed; granddaughter, Macy Ann Kyer; numerous nieces and nephews, including Robert Reed, Jr., Pam Robinette, and Paula Fuller; mother of his child, Mara Cannillo and husband Donald.

In accordance with his wishes, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
