Obituary

James Clark Yutzy, 73, of Cumberland, MD passed away peacefully May 8, 2026 at UPMC Western Maryland.

He was born June 9, 1952 to Lucy Jean (Clark) Yutzy and the late James Henry Yutzy.

James was a lifelong scholar and graduated from Fort Hill High School, Alderson Broaddus University, Marshall University, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Frostburg State University, and Allegany College; getting degrees in business administration, accounting, and divinity.

He was an avid runner, a member of the Optimist Club, and spent his time reading and writing novels. Jim was an amusement park enthusiast, and loved cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.

He was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher, pianist, and participated in the choir.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother, Dave Yutzy and wife Jennifer; nephews, Jacob Yutzy and wife Carla, their children Enzo & Angelina, and Jack Yutzy and wife Katie; special friend and caregiver, Rosalee Knippenberg.

In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated.

A visitation will take place Saturday, May 16th from 2-4:00pm at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland. A memorial service will immediately follow beginning at 4:00 with Rev. Sherrill Dillon and Pastor Troy Knippenberg officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to Second Baptist Church, 1 Grand Ave, Cumberland, MD 21502.
