Janet A. Diehl, 89, of Cumberland, went to be with her Lord savior on Tuesday, October 2, 2024 at Cumberland Healthcare.

Born September 6, 1935, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Russell Summerfield and Bessie Jo Clawson.

Janet graduated from Allegany High School in the class of 1953. After school, she worked at Rosenbaum's Department Store and Joe The Moderist. But what she was most proud of was working as a certified medical assistant tech at labor & delivery at Sacred Heart Hospital.

She enjoyed helping with her class reunions, roller skating, and line dancing. Also she loved anytime she could get away to the Chincoteague, VA and Ocean Isle, NC.

Janet is survived by her children, Robert Diehl, Cynthia Swanger, and Brian Diehl and his wife Julie; five grandchildren, Jason Swanger, Jarred Swanger, John Diehl, Natalie Creek-Diehl, Michaela Diehl; eight great grandchildren; a half-sister, Sandy Oster; and her partner of 40 years, James McDonald.

Friends were be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway, Cresaptown on Tuesday, October 8 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Leo Lavin officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
