Jennie M.
Stein
Oct 2, 1951 — Feb 1, 2025
Jennie Margaret Stein was born on October 2, 1951 in Manchester, NH, and she died at UPMC Altoona on February 1, 2025 after suffering a debilitating stroke.
Jennie is survived by her children, Tracy Lord and husband Eric, and Shawn Stein as well as her five precious grandchildren: Taylor Stein, Gabrielle Lord, Hayden Stein, Alexander Lord, and Sophia Lord. Ms. Stein is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Doreen Forbush Hartshorn of New Hampshire, by her three granddogs, Finlay, Harlow, and Zeus, her crazy cat Phoebe, and countless friends and acquaintances.
Jennie graduated from Fort Ashby High School in 1969, and then she married and raised her family. Jennie continued her education to become a dietary manager, and she was very knowledgeable about providing proper nourishment to patients in need. She spent her career as a caregiver in many different environments; however, most of her working life was spent as a dietary manager in various nursing homes and assisted living facilities. She always had special residents who she worried over.
After retirement, Jennie or "Mimi", as her grandchildren named her, was still known for caregiving, primarily through her gifts of cooking and baking. For many years, Mimi Jennie prepared dozens of homemade pumpkin rolls at Thanksgiving to bless her friends, family, and neighbors, and she was never without a popsicle or a snack for the neighborhood children. She loved music, crocheting, all animals, and birdwatching. She was kind and generous to a fault, and she never met a stranger. In addition, she was sassy, outspoken, and funny, and she was a lively storyteller.
Jennie's remains will be cremated, per her wishes, and a private service will be held by the family at a later date.
