Jesse Lee "Sonny" Kimmell, 80, of Cumberland, MD, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at UPMC – Western Maryland.

Born March 7, 1945, in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late Jess Kimmell and Ethel Pearl Branson Kimmell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Samuel Kimmell; sister, Edna White and husband, William; and son, Michael Wayne Kimmell.

Jesse was a boilermaker for the CSXT Railroad, Local 1032.

Jesse enjoyed collecting baseball and football cards, playing sports, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved studying the Bible and listening to gospel music. He was a dedicated member of his family church, Lake Gordon Assembly of God.

Jesse is survived by his loving wife, Earlene Kimmell; sons, Patrick and wife, Tina, Jeff and wife, Molly, and Sam and wife, Tammy; daughter, Trish; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Sawanger; and brother, Richard Kimmell and wife Nancy.

Friends will be received at Lake Gordon Assembly of God Church, 569 Lake Gordon Rd, Bedford, PA, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Christine Collette and Rev. Rebecca Rust officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
