John Alan Walker, 67, of Cumberland, MD passed away September 5, 2023 at his home.
John was born November 15, 1955 in Cumberland, MD to John C. Walker and Barbara (Campbell) Poling.
He was proceeded in passing by his father John C. Walker; a sister, Lisa Walker-McMahon; Grandparents, Glenn I. and Elizabeth (Ullery) Campbell, Thelma (Holler) Walker and John Walker; Aunt Glenda (Campbell) Stine; step-father, Robert K. Poling, and a uncle Wayne "Ike" Campbell.
John is survived by his mother, Barbara Joan Poling; a brother, Glenn Randy Walker; his sons, Jason and Shane Walker; grandson, Laylan Alan Walker; granddaughters, Lily, Emily, Lyndsey, Madison, Abigail, and Katie Walker; stepsisters, Barbara Stine and Jan Unger (Kevin); stepbrother, David R. Poling (Kris) and families; nieces Jennifer and Christina Sheriff, Jessica and Tori Walker; and his former wife and mother to his children Suzanne Walker who stayed close throughout his life; cousins, Greg and Robin; close friends, Randy Ritchie, Tom Bucy; he is also survived by many other friends and family members.
He attended Fort Hill High School before joining the U.S. Navy. John was a superintendent for Commercial Contractors Inc. for many years as a master carpenter, along with other aspects of the building trades. He also worked at Allegany Services during his later years. He enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing, he was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he loved to play golf, and in his earlier years he played baseball.
John put his all into all of the things in this life that really matter and strived to pass that along the best way he knew how, and left his love everywhere he went. He gave all of himself at the needs of others. A legacy of beautiful memoires and lessons that no dollar sign could ever amount to. The world was blessed to have you as long as it did. You will live on through us forever.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 30th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland. A memorial service will immediately follow beginning at 1:00 p.m. Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
