Bowling Green John Edward Crowe, 78, of Bowling Green, Cumberland, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.Born in Cumberland, MD, on December 31, 1939, he was the son of the late Mary Evelyn (Fannon) and John Daniel Crowe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Mary Bernice Growden and husband Bill; and his brothers-in-law, Leo Michaels and Thomas Sweitzer.John grew up in Mt. Savage, MD. He was a graduate of Mt. Savage High School. Following high school, he served his country in the United States Army. John retired from the Allegany County Board of Education. He was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, and he attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mt. Savage and St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cresaptown. John was a member of the Mt. Savage VFW. John enjoyed watching sports. He especially enjoyed wrestling and football. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys.He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Leona Margaret (Michaels) Crowe; brother, Paul Francis Crowe, Mt. Savage; brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis "Jake" Michaels and wife Lauretta, Cresaptown, Wanda Cecilia Sweitzer, Cumberland, Victor R. Michaels and wife Dorothy, Cumberland, and Faye Diane Shelton and husband Richard, Staunton, VA. John is also survived by several nieces and nephews.At John's request, he will be cremated and his cremains buried at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery. A graveside service will be held at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11 am.Military honors will be accorded by Ft.
