CUMBERLAND – John Joseph Donaldson, 83, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, surrounded by his wife, son, and stepdaughter, at Cumberland Healthcare Center.

Born February 17, 1941, in Waterbury, CT, he was a son of the late John and Delvina (Enos) Donaldson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ellinton.

John was a graduate of Clarence Central High School, and he went on to drive both trucks and school buses. He served his country in the United States Navy and later became a member of the Oldtown VFW Post 9451, as well as the Frostburg American Legion Post 24. John served as a chaplain for both of these organizations. He was also an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

John leaves behind his wife, Mary Louise Donaldson; the best son in the world, Steven Donaldson; stepchildren, Doma Lechliter, Dara and James Wrachford, and Mary Beth and James Dicken; brothers, Peter and Robert Donaldson.

John donated his body to medical science, and services will be announced at a later date.
