John S. Gatial, 89, of Cumberland, MD passed away June 25, 2024 at the Devlin Manor Nursing Home with his family.

He was born August 8, 1934 in Tarentum, PA to the late George and Mary Gatial. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by all of his five siblings.

John served in the U.S. Army and then went on to work as a draftsman at the Kelly Springfield Tire Company and the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory.

He loved spending time with his family.

John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anna Mae Gatial; daughters, Donna Aarnink and husband Henderic of South Carolina, Karen Baker and husband Tim of Columbia, MD; three grandchildren, Anton Aarnink, Timothy Baker, and Michael Baker, and a large extended family with many nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated.

Friends and family will be received Saturday, June 29th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD.

Inurnment will be private and in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone, MD.
