Cumberland– John Ralph Goss, Jr., 81, of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024 at UPMC-WM.

Born August 15, 1942, in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late John Ralph Goss, Sr. and Elizabeth Mae (Main) Goss. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sally Ann Goss and brother, Charles "Porky" Goss.

John was a member of the Fort Hill High School class of 1960. Before retiring, John worked as a mechanic at CSX Railroad. John served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1960 – 1964. In his free-time, he enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club, the American Legion, and the VFW.

He is survived by his children, Diane L. Loibel and husband John, Cumberland, and Michael A. Goss and wife Wendy, Frederick. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Hook and husband James, Katie Knippenberg and husband Shevin, Megan Goss, Jillian Goss, and Michael Goss, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Hook, Miles Hook, and Adeline Knippenberg; siblings, Nancy Snyder and husband Richard, and Jeanie Twigg and husband Roger; sister-in-law, Bonnie Lapidario and husband Rene; and brothers-in-law, James Dicken and wife Suzanne, and John Dicken and Maureen.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 11am to 12:30pm. A funeral service will follow at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Harold McClay officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland American Legion Post 13 honor guard.

Interment will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery.
