LAVALE – John D. Guinn, Jr., 78, of LaVale, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at UPMC Western Maryland. Born on August 8, 1943, in Lonaconing, MD, he was the son of the late John D. and Bernice (Broadwater) Guinn, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Susan Marie (Gibbs) Guinn; and daughter, Carolyn Guinn. John attended Valley High School in Lonaconing, MD. He was employed by the Allegany County Board of Education as a custodian at the Career Center. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene on Valley Road in Cumberland. John loved to play music, and was a gifted musician who played several instruments. He also enjoyed camping. He is survived by his children, Linda Shoemaker and husband Gary, Centerville, PA, Lori Bolden, Cresaptown, Gina Taylor and her husband Tracy, Flintstone, Johnny Guinn and wife Debbie, Westernport, and Jimmy Guinn and wife Tina, Mount Savage; eighteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home following the visitation at 1 P.M. with Rev. David Dayhoff officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
