CUMBERLAND – John Herbert "Jack" Cain, 77, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 19, 2020, surrounded by his family. His last words were that he wanted to go home and be with his wife, Diane, and Jesus. Born May 6, 1943, in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late John and Thelma Cain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diane (Jones) Cain; and his sisters, Anna Lee Lombardi and Vanessa Herring. Jack was a member of Family Ministry Church. He was also a Cumberland Police Officer for 29 years. He proudly served the community with all of his heart. Jack was a former FOP Lodge 90 President and made many lifelong friendships with his police family. Before working as a police officer, Jack was employed by PPG for a number of years. Jack loved dancing with his wife and listening to the oldies music from the '50s and '60s. As Jack got older, he enjoyed his retirement and the simple things in life. He was a diehard Fort Hill fan. He enjoyed going to all the football games and could be seen wearing red most days of the week. In latter days, he was seen wearing an ALCO hat and rooting for Allegany – he loved watching his grandson, Grant, play football, basketball, and baseball. Surviving is his son, Keith Cain and wife, Jenny; daughter, Leslie Miller and husband, Scott; brother, Bob Cain; sister, Bonna Truitt; special grandchildren, Cierra Fradiska and husband, Jordan, Grant Cain, and Ava Cain; and loving great-granddaughter, Scotlyn Fradiska. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. is entrusted with arrangements. At Jack's request, there will be no visitation or formal funeral service.
