John Kirk Mallery, 89, of Hyndman, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab.

Born November 30, 1936, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Lawrence Winship Mallery, Sr. and Helen Lydia (Ely) Mallery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Helen Bowers (Buck), Harry "Allen" and Lawrence Mallery, Jr., Aileen Rader (Jim) and Edith Abbott and granddaughter, Megan Mallery.

John was a member of Bethel Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed going hunting and fishing.

John is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sandra Kay (Lowery) Mallery; daughters, Carol Mallery, Denise Maiava (Rev. Tau), Sherry Howard (Rev. Dana) and Karen Mallery Dones (Manny); grandchildren, Ben Maiava (Erin), Victoria Maiava, Christian Howard (Evan), Courtney Howard, Candace Meza (Daniel Meza Fonc), Christa Howard, Reid Heidler, Mallery Heidler, and Jhana Heidler; great-grandchildren, Arhianna Mallery, Ashton Richards, Arya Richards, Zeke Richards, Isabella Maiava, and Sage Meza; siblings, Robert Mallery and David Mallery (Marilyn), Ann Wolfe (Charlie), and Betty Adams (Bill); and a very large extended family.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at the Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 11720 Valley Rd NE, Cumberland, MD 21502 on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 11:00 am with Rev. Tau Maiava and Rev. Dana Howard officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior.

Interment will be in the MD State Veteran's Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations may be made to Bethel Church of the Nazarene in honor of John.
