Cumberland--John E. Mullaney, Jr., 74, of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the UPMC Western Maryland. Born in Cumberland, MD, on January 12, 1948, he was the son of the late John E. and Sarah (Sembower) Mullaney. John graduated from St Mary Catholic Elementary School and from LaSalle High School in 1966. Following high school, he was a VISTA Volunteer in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. John was a dedicated caregiver to his mother for 23 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church Our Lady of the Mountains Parish. He is survived by his brothers, Terry F. Mullaney and wife, Leslie, and Patrick K. Mullaney and wife, Bonnie; fiancée, Rena Sykes; niece, Sarah Hubbell and husband, Aaron; nephews, Dr. Ryan M. Mullaney, Todd A. Mullaney, and David C. Mullaney and wife, Brooke; great-grand-nephew, Wyatt G. Hubbell; great-grand-nieces, Anna Ruth "Puddy" Hubbell, Alice A. Mullaney, and Evelyn Mullaney. At John's request, he will be cremated.
