CUMBERLAND – John Leonard Steinmetz Sr., 67, of Cumberland, passed away on March 8, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Born on July 2, 1955, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Ervin Steinmetz, Jr. and Dorothy (Bishop) Steinmetz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Irvin and Mary (Porter) Steinmetz; maternal grandparents, Newton and Edith (Teets) Bishop; and sister, Elizabeth Elaine Andrews.

John worked at Possum Point Power Plant in Virginia, and at Dunkin' Donuts.

He is survived by his loving wife, Leeann Denise (Ricewick) Steinmetz; step-sons, Carter S. Bolinger, and Bailey S. Bolinger and significant other, Sydney Shadwell; granddaughter, Lilie G. Bolinger; and grandson, Niko Alimo; niece, Taryn Hartley and her children, Malachi, Gabriel, and Neicey; niece, Brandi Hartley and son, Kiyan Hartley; and daughter, Misty McDonald and her children.

Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 10am to 12pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12pm.

In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated following the services.
