SHORT GAP, WV – John Albert Taylor, 83, passed away in his home on November 12, 2023.

Born May 26, 1940, in Keyser, John is the son of Nellie (Taylor) Albright.

John started working on the farm at a young age. He would take any job he could get to help support his family until he started his own trucking business in the 70's. He drove log trucks until he retired in 2019. He loved working on his trucks and tinkering around the yard. He enjoyed bowling and was part of various bowling leagues for 30+ years. He had a heart of gold and lived to help his family. He loved sharing his stories with anyone that would care to listen and he enjoyed hearing their stories as well.

John is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 56 years, Evelyn; infant son, John; daughter, Debi; sisters, Linda Taylor and Joyce Albright; brothers, Roger Albright and Donald Albright.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Krystal (Stansberry) Dowling and her husband, Howard; siblings, Betty Walters, Bobby Albright, Lois Reall, Phyllis Sites, Donna Albright, and Kenneth Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.

John's family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway SW, Cresaptown, on Friday, December 1, 2023 from noon to 1pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1pm with Pastor Seth Wharton officiating.

Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
