Hagerstown, MD - Josephine "Joei" Delphine White, 64, of Hagerstown, formerly of Cumberland, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023.

Born July 15, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Ervin Steinmetz, Jr. and Dorothy (Bishop) Steinmetz. She was also preceded in death by her son, Paul F. Smith, Jr.; her sister, Elizabeth (Steinmetz) Andrews; and her brothers, Arthur, Abner "Curtis," and John Steinmetz.

Joei was a teacher's aide for HRDC. Then, she loved taking care of her children, grandchildren, and her friends' children. Everyone she took care of considered her their grandmother.

Surviving are two sons, Brandon Steinmetz and Christopher Brooks (girlfriend Jazmin); three granddaughters, Tashaya Steinmetz, who lived with her, Jamiyah Brooks, and Kennedy Steinmetz; two grandsons, Brynnan and Carter Steinmetz; two sisters, Ruth (Steinmetz) Hunt (Mark) and Tina (Steinmetz) Meisenhalder; and her brother, James Peer (Maryann); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 5 until 6 pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6 pm.
