Obituary

Joshua Christopher Wageley, 47, of Cumberland, MD passed away peacefully at home with his family June 9, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Cumberland on November 3, 1978 to Christopher "Chuck" and Wendy Wageley who cherished him his entire life. Josh graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1996 where he played football and was on the track and field team. Shortly after he began a 26 year career as a composite specialist at the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory with Northrup Grumman, he was proud of the work he did and made many friends who became his second family.

Josh loved spending time with his family. Especially the time they spent together enjoying the outdoors, where he was passionate about hunting and fishing. Everyone that knew him will have many fond memories of their time with him at camp, and the annual "infamous guys weekend" will remain if you know, you know.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his children, Zadin Xander Barger-Wageley and significant other Samantha, Makenna Jane Wageley, and Preslee Joan Wageley; stepson, Mason David Swanger; his cherished partner, Holly Wageley; grandchildren, Brantley Michael and Emberley Mildred; a sister, Christa Lynn Wageley and husband Jason VonStien; nieces, Oliva and Josie; his large extended family, many friends, and beloved fur companions Hank and Nilla.

Josh has rejoined his cousin, Mikey Wageley in heaven, where they are surely already "giving heaven some hell".

In accordance with his wishes he was cremated.

Friends and family will be received for a celebration of Josh's life on Saturday, June 13th at 3:00 p.m. at the The Goodfellowship Club, 225 Virginia Ave, Cumberland, MD.

The family requests those wishing to make memorial contributions to direct them to Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. (www.ScarpelliFH.com) 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland, MD 21502 to assist defraying expenses.
