FROSTBURG – Joy Darlene "Nanny" Rice, 75, of Frostburg, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Sterling Care at Frostburg Village. Born February 18, 1946, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Kermit Mason and Ruby J. (Shank) Sites. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Missouri Lucille "Shankie" Shank; brothers, Robert Wayne Sites and wife, Lee, and Kermit William Sites and wife, Shirley; sister, Mary Sites; former husband, Paul L. Rice, Sr. Ms. Rice was Pentecostal by faith. Joy formerly worked as a sitter, babysitter and as a manager at the Union Rescue Mission. She loved cooking for her family, attending family reunions and taking care of numerous fur-babies. In earlier years, she enjoyed planting flowers and canning vegetables. Joy is survived by her two children, Paul Rice, Jr. and wife, Carla, and Renee Tipton and husband, John; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; special grandchildren, Renee Morgan and Alina Mathews. Services will be limited to just family, who will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 11am to 1pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1pm. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
