Joyce M. Eisler peacefully passed away on February 21, 2025.

Born on July 6, 1930, to Francis DeSales and Jessie Abbott Yarnall, Joyce was a lifelong resident of Cumberland, MD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Yarnall and wife Dorothy; twin sister, JoAnn Burke and husband John; sisters, Mary Anne Bailey and husband Jason, Patricia Yarnall and Jean Yarnall; sister-in-law, Helen Yarnall; and niece, Joan Burke Rubertone.

A 1948 graduate of Allegany High School, Joyce was active in class reunions and maintained these cherished friendships throughout her life.

Joyce began her career with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in 1957, as a telephone operator at the Queen City Station. She retired as a clerk with CSX in 1993. A railroader for life, she served as an officer with the local chapter of the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railroad Employees. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

Retirement allowed her to travel. Whether it was a bus trip, a holiday with family, or a destination vacation, Joyce traveled the United States.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Karen Moore White, Terra Alta, WV; granddaughter, Mary-Margaret Chaffee, Providence, RI; siblings, Kathryn Bray (Robin) Fayetteville, NC, Francis "Pat" Yarnall, LaFayette, IN; sister-in-law, JoAnn Logsdon, Cumberland; nieces and nephews, Tom Yarnall, Jack Yarnall, Tim Yarnall, Charles Yarnall, Ann Connor, John Burke, Martin Burke, Celia D'Orazio, Robyn Harrison, Martin Bray, Stefan Bray, John Logsdon, Mark Logsdon, their spouses, and children.

Joyce had a life well lived. But the lyrics from her favorite song, by her favorite singer, Johnny Mathias, is the best remembrance.

As per her request, her remains were donated to the State Anatomy Board of Maryland.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lion's Manor for their compassion and excellent care.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm with Pastor Seth Wharton officiating.
