Karl Klase Selby, 57, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024, at UPMC-WM.

Born in Philipsburg, Pa., on June 11, 1967, he was the son of Joan (Klase) Selby and the late Dr. Robert Steele Selby.

Karl was a great collector and appreciator of music with a love that developed young, which included learning to play both the violin and piano. He was a graduate of Findlay High School of Findlay, Ohio. He had a passion for reading and even tried his hand out at writing poetry.

Karl overcame many obstacles, but his Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder was a fierce challenger. In the course of his life, he received services from the Psychiatric Rehabilitation facility of Cumberland and many dedicated staff of Archway Station.

Karl is survived by his long-term girlfriend, Cathy Ambrose; his mother, Joan (Klase) Selby; his uncle, Dr. Stephen Selby; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

In accordance to his wishes, Karl will be cremated.

A Celebration of Karl's Life will be held in the Archway Wellness and Recovery Center, 121 Memorial Avenue, Cumberland, on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 9:30 to 11am.
