Kathleen Joy Burke, of LaVale, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 2, 2024, after a long struggle with cancer. She was 67.

Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Mary L. (Sechrist) Zimmerla.

After attending Allegany High School, Kathleen was trained and worked as a machinist at her father's business in Cumberland, Zimmerla Machine Works. She eventually owned and ran the shop as sole proprietor, the 3rd generation of the family to do so.

She will be remembered as a talented machinist and spirited business owner, a direct but caring and loyal friend, and a dearly beloved sister.

Kathleen is survived by her sister, Jenifer Willson, of Michigan; her niece, Stacy Alexander, and Stacy's children, Sam and Ashley Pech of Texas.

In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and no services will be held.
