CUMBERLAND – Kenneth Wayne Merica, Sr., 69, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025 at UPMC – Western MD.

Born July 3, 1956, in MD, he was a son of the late Irvin Cletus Merica and Shirley Henrietta (Brant) Merica.

After graduating high school, Kenneth went on to serve his country in the US Army and Army National Guard. In his later years, he loved coloring and spending time with his niece, Julia, and her son with whom he lived.

Surviving are his children, Kenneth W. Merica, Jr. and wife Jessica, Branden Merica, and Kenneth I. Merica; granddaughter, Destiny; brothers, Robert Merica and wife Belinda, and Richard Merica and wife Clara; sister, Patty Merica Imes; beloved niece and caretaker, Julia Gibson and her son, Donald Wolfe; favorite niece, Janelle Ahern; numerous additional nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD, on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 11am to 1pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1pm. Interment will be in MD State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, where military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans Association of America Chapter 172.
