Kimberly Ann (Cassell) Jackson, 55, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 12, 2023, after a long hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born in Cumberland, Maryland on April 20, 1968, to her parents the late Edward 'David' Cassell and Vicki (Blum) Cassell.
Kimberly was a graduate of Fort Hill High School (Class of 1986) and Frostburg State University where she earned her degree in Music Education.
Kimberly was a gifted musician by trade. Her passion was shared with hundreds of students which she taught in her twenty-nine year career with the Allegany County Board of Education. She also served the Lord by playing the organ/piano and leading the choir at several churches over the years starting at the age of 13, most recently at Living Word Lutheran Church and Trinity United Methodist Church. Over the years Kimberly enjoyed playing for various individuals, groups, and multiple shows. One of her favorite endeavors was being the accompanist for the Cumberland Choral Society. Kimberly loved to travel, spend time with her family, friends and her beloved pet cats.
Kimberly is survived by her husband of twenty-five years, Mark Earl Jackson; her mother, Vicki (Blum) Cassell; her sister, Kelly Cassell; brother, Christopher Cassell and wife Brooke (Makenna and Nash); aunts and uncles are Kevin and Joni Blum, Rick and Cindy Cassell, Deborah and Reed Erickson, Judy and Victor Erving, and Michelle Lee. Kimberly is also survived by her in-laws, Roger and Sherry Jackson, Mike and Lynda Jackson, Becky and Bob Butler, and Matthew and Denise Jackson. Kimberly loved all of her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to thank the UPMC Hospice Team and special care-giver Bonnie Mallow.
Per Kimberly's request, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Living Word Lutheran Church, 800 Hilltop Drive, Cumberland, MD at 12:00 pm with Pastor Mark Dill officiating. Guests will be received from 11:00 am -12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to UPMC Hospice or Living Word Lutheran Church.
