Cumberland Lamar H. Martin, 77, of Cumberland passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.Born in Cumberland, MD on March 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Lamar T. and Louise V. (Jones) Martin. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandson, Tyler J. Shafer.Lamar was a graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1959. Following high school, Lamar served his country in the United States Air Force. Upon being discharged, he was employed at the Kelly Springfield Tire Company. He later retired from Federal Express where he worked for over twenty years.Lamar was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish attending St. Mary Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Kennels Mills Sportsman Club, and the Goodfellowship Club. Lamar enjoyed attending his grandchildren's special events, particularly their sporting events. He enjoyed taking long walks around Cumberland with his wife, Vicki. Most of all, Lamar enjoyed vacations at Disney World and Myrtle Beach with his family.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vicki (Moreland) Martin; children, Timothy J. Martin and Crystal Yaider, Taryn M. Bennett and husband Howard, Cammie L. Shafer and husband Jim; grandchildren, Lyle Bennett and wife Chelsey, Ryan Shafer and Elizabeth Ringer, Trey Bennett, and Jenna Bennett; half- sister, Katherine Hartell; and sisters-in-law, Jeanie Appel, and Debi Liller and husband Carty.Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, from 4-7 P.M. on Thursday, March 22, 2018.A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday March 23, 2018 at 11 A.M.
