Larry Ronald Bennett, 73, of Cumberland died September 25, 2024 at UPMC Western Maryland.

He was born on April 5, 1951 at home in Flintstone, MD to the late Howard and Grethel (Turner) Bennett. In addition to his parents Larry is preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Peggy Jean Bennett; a daughter, Shelva Jean Shipley; siblings, Freeda, Roy, Carl, LeRoy, Mearl, Charlotte, and Kathy.

Larry worked as a truck driver mostly hauling coal, and was a member of the Cumberland Moose Lodge 271. In his spare time he enjoyed working on historic cars and street rods.

Surviving are his children, Douglas Shipley and wife Donna, Jim Bennett and wife Suzie, Julie Dignan, and Susan Bennett; eleven grandchildren, Bobby, Justine, Lilth, Jess, Tasha, Levi, Jake, Shawna, Richard, Lee, Madison; seven great-grandchildren; four siblings, Paul Bennett and wife Sandy, Howard Bennett and partner AnnaLee, Lance Bennett and wife Elaine, and Rosalie Mullenax; along with a very large extended family.

In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated and there will be no formal services.

Burial will be with his wife at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland, MD.
