CUMBERLAND – Larry Wayne Edwards, 65, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024, at UPMC-Western Maryland.

Born November 18, 1958, in Frederick, MD, he was a son of Ruth Marie (Smith) Edwards and the late Harry C. Edwards, Jr.

Larry was a 1976 graduate of Bishop Walsh School. He worked for Coca Cola before eventually becoming a District Sales Leader for Frito Lay. Following high school, Larry played baseball for the Minor League Baseball Organization and went on to play for the Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, and the Milwaukee Brewers. He also played with the American Legion Post 13 and helped to secure the team's victory in 1976.

When Larry wasn't playing sports, he was watching them. He especially enjoyed the Maryland Terps, Indianapolis Colts, and Baltimore Orioles. He could also be found camping and boating at Raystown Lake. His true passion, however, was hunting, which he often did at Kline's Hunt Camp.

Larry was a gentle giant with a big heart.

In addition to his mother, Larry leaves behind his wife, Joan M. (Fisher) Edwards; sons, Jason Edwards and Brook Edwards (Sam); stepson, Jordan Marshall (Monika); grandchildren, Arden, Elle, Mason, Chase, and Harrison; step-grandson, Greysen; brother, Randy Edwards (Diane); aunts, Mabel and Kate; and special friends, his dogs, Apache, Cherokee, and Cheyenne.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 3 to 6pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6pm with Pastor Ken Korns officiating.
