Larry Ray Hook, Sr. went to be with the Lord on November 8, 2024, at UPMC Western Maryland, in Cumberland.

He was born in Clovis, NM, to Delores and Leo Hook and grew up in Paw Paw, WV, with his loving grandparents, Wanda and Ray Light.

Over 6 feet tall and strong, he was a protector with a great sense of humor. He loved to get a rise out of people, and you never knew what he would say or do. He never met anyone he couldn't talk to. He worked over 20 years at Moore's Lumber in Winchester, Va. The love of his life was Debbie Hook, whom he married on Valentine's Day 1997. They met while working as volunteers at the Paw Paw, WV and Oldtown, MD Volunteer Fire Departments. They would respond together to the calls and could often be at the firehouse before the sound of the siren stopped. Through his volunteering, he helped countless people when they needed it the most.

He loved NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt. He enjoyed sharing his love of car races with his good friend Rick Swanger and insisted on arriving hours early so he could socialize. He also enjoyed spending time with good friend and neighbor, Pops Webb. When he was younger, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in later years, his love of woodworking led to a crafting business with Debbie. Weekends were often spent traveling to a flea market, craft show or a car race. When the holidays arrived, he would spread the magic of the season creating a yard full of decorations for Santa's arrival.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his special mother-in-law, Claribelle Nixon. He is survived by his wife, Debbie; his children, Larry Hook, Jr, Davey Twigg and fiancée, Rachel Bishop and her daughter, Kinsley, Stacey Scott and husband, Jeremy. His grandchildren include Brian and Hailey Twigg, Cleland Scott, Montana Dilley, Brodie, Kinley and Lane Hook. Great-grandchildren include Kinsley and Bryson Twigg. Larry also leaves behind extended family members who were very special to him, his Aunt Connie Hiett and her husband Carl, Aunt Donna Shanholtzer, Aunt Darlene Abe, Aunt Billie Householder and husband Dave, niece Heather Wilson and husband Alvin and two great-nieces, Allie and Addie. He also left behind his beloved cat, Dixie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Oldtown, MD.
