M. Ilene (Morrison) Bridges, 91, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Devlin Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Born December 8, 1931, in Elkins, WV, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Melda Blanche (Riffle) Morrison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husbands, William Russell Kline and Douglas Fleek; son, Eric Douglas Fleek, Sr.; siblings, Thomas Morrison, Hugh S. Friend, William Friend, James Friend, and Carolyn Gaus; grandson, Ryan Bridges; and son-in-law, Marshall White.

Ilene attended Fort Hill High School. She went on to decorate cakes at M & M Bakery. While working at the bakery, as the sole decorator, she decorated her own wedding cake. Ilene decorated other cakes for many of her family members. She also worked as manager of the luncheon counter at People's Drug Store. Ilene was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for approximately 50 years.

She bowled with the Rock Group and the American Legion Mixed Bowling League. Ilene was extremely active and loved gardening, canning, and caring for her flowers. She hosted many parties and picnics for family and friends with her husband, Wesley, serving up all a person could hope to eat with all the trimmings. She was not one to sit around; she liked to be out shopping or traveling. Her favorite destinations were Virginia Beach and Kansas – to visit with her daughter, Linda and family.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Wesley Bridges; children, Linda Burgess and husband, Dale, Charlotte White, and Rick Kline and wife, Diana; stepchildren, Vickie Diane Bridges and Rickey Bridges; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Shirley Gren, Paula Friend, Anne Friend, Linda Friend, Nora Higson, and Connie Kline; brother-in-law, Ed Gaus.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 11am to 1pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1pm with Rev. Richard Jewell officiating and son-in-law, Evangelist Dale Burgess assisting.

Interment will be in Maryland State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
