CUMBERLAND Our precious Mother, 93, Madeline J. Propst, passed away August 12, 2019.Born February 16, 1926, in Cumberland, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amedeo and Frances (Palumbo) Basile; and her beloved husband of 71 years, Floyd A. Propst.Madeline was a 1944 graduate of St. Mary High School. She grew up in South Cumberland. She was a homemaker, and loved taking care of her family. She was a marvelous cook and baker, and was a very generous and giving person.She is survived by three daughters, Mary Louise Slonaker, Cumberland, Lorraine Sturtz and husband Robert, Frederick, MD, and Brenda Erickson, Frederick, MD.; step-son, Donald L. Propst and wife Linda, Ellerslie, MD; also like a daughter and very much part of our family, Lisa Dunlap, Hyndman, PA; one grandson, Mark A. Slonaker and wife Annie, Denver, CO; one sister Rosemary Hager, Severna Park, MD; one sister-in-law, Medie McLaughlin and husband Ray, Dundock, MD; many special nieces and nephews; longtime friends, Fran and Jim Ruppert, LaVale, MD; and lifetime friend, Angela Turner, Cumberland, MD.Mother you were our "Queen," our guiding light, who made everything special for all of us. You will live in our hearts forever.Family and friends will be received at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 300 E Oldtown Road, Cumberland, on Friday, August 16, 2019, from 2 to 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.Condolences for the family may be left at www.ScarpelliFH.com
