Mary Ethel Ann (Knieriem) Patterson, 84, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab.

Born August 18, 1941, in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Andrew and Farol Marie (Stevens) Knieriem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph Knieriem, Jr. and Gustave Knieriem.

Mary Ethel was graduate of Ursuline Academy. She went to Catherman's Business School.

Mary Ethel enjoyed sitting in the sun and spending time with her friends. She was an animal and music lover. Mary was a long time member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Mary Ethel is survived by her children, Melissa Wegley and husband William, Stephanie Glaser, Kristin McKenna, and Natalie Patterson; grandchildren, Alexandra Kerr and husband Brian, Emily Wegley and husband, Aiden McConnell, Olivia Wegley, Samuel Glaser and partner Caroline and Jacob Glaser; and great grandchildren, Locklen McConnell and Adelyn Kerr.

In accordance with her wishes, services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions be directed to Allegany Animal Shelter, PO Box 556, Cumberland, MD 21501 or Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab, 730 Furnace Street, Cumberland, MD 21502 in honor of Mary Ethel's memory.
