BOWLING GREEN – Mary Jane Phillips, 87, of Bowling Green, passed away July 22, 2024 at Devlin Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born April 4, 1937, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Helen M. (Spencer) Riley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Phillips; and brothers, Robert and Thomas Riley.

Mary was a graduate of Fort Ashby High School and went on to finish her education at Catherman's Business School. She worked as a cashier at Bowling Green Market, and following retirement settled into her role as a homemaker. Mary was Methodist by faith. Most recently, Mary had become an avid fan of international soccer.

Mary leaves behind her son, Faron Phillips and wife, Tina; step-grandson, William Mallow and wife, Amylyn; great-grandsons, Jacob and Joshua; brothers, Edward Riley, Dale Riley and wife, Martha, and Roger Brown and wife, Sheryl.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 9 to 11am. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11am with Pastor Seth Wharton officiating. Interment will be in MD State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
