Mary "Pinky" (Phelps) Barnhardt, formerly Rotruck, 61, passed away on February 25, 2025, holding the hands of her loving daughters.

Born on May 31, 1963, she was the daughter of Norman I. Phelps and Mary L. Combs.

Mary spent her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and lifelong learner. She is survived by her daughters Sarah Rotruck (Greg Dillner) and Lisa Derlan (Brian and son Blake Derlan), step-son Dillon Barnhardt, and her cat Simba. Proceeding her in death are her husband Billy Barnhardt, her son Christopher, and her two pups Lilly and Daisy.

Mary earned two Associate of Applied Sciences degrees at Allegany College of Maryland; she used her degrees to pursue careers in massage therapy and as a physical therapy assistant. After earning her degrees, Mary never stopped learning. She was always enrolling in classes and teaching herself new skills. A lifelong crafter, Mary shared her passion with the community through her business "Pinky's Pastimes" and with her family and friends through quilting, scrapbooking, cross-stitching, card-making, and Cricutting. Mary loved baking and taking adventures. She was an avid animal lover and was very passionate about supporting rescued pets.

Growing up as a child in a military family, Mary had the opportunity to travel with her family before ultimately residing in LaVale, Maryland for the early part of her life. Mary then relocated to Gainesville, Virginia with her late husband, Billy, and later to Goose Creek, South Carolina.

In honor of Mary's wishes, a memorial service will not be held. Donations to the Mineral County Humane Society, PO Box 394, Keyser, WV 26726, or the Allegany County Animal Shelter, PO Box 566, Cumberland, MD 21501-0566, can be made in Mary's name.
