Mary Jane (Rice) Shircliff was reunited with the love of her life, the late Franklin Eugene Shircliff, on January 10. A devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, and nurse, Mary Jane leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, tenacity, and strength that touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mary Jane was born in Dayton, Ohio, on January 11 to the late James Bruce and Freda Mae (Green) Rice. She was the older sister of Jena Rice of Frostburg, Maryland, and the late David Bruce Rice. Raised in the Assemblies of God Church, she established her faith in Jesus Christ at a young age. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to ministries such as Sunday school and children's church. A devoted believer, she found solace in her bible and often hummed gospel tunes from her favorite artists, including the Gaither Vocal Band, Mark Lowry, and Elvis Presley.

A graduate of Beall High School, Mary Jane pursued nursing at Allegany Community College (now Allegany College of Maryland). It was there that she met and married Frank, the love of her life. Their love story was one for the ages, and together they built a family rooted in faith and love. Mary Jane and Frank were foster parents, members of the Drumfest Committee, and active participants in Second Baptist Church in Cumberland, Maryland.

Mary Jane cherished time with her children and grandchildren, guided by her steadfast belief that "God makes blessings, not mistakes." Her kindness and unwavering faith inspired all who knew her, even during life's most challenging moments. Together, Mary Jane and Frank raised their children: Tadd (Betty) Shircliff, Tami (Carlos) Shircliff-Peña, Paige (JayCee Easton, fiancé) Shircliff, and Sean (Tyler) Shircliff.

When Frank was diagnosed with cancer, Mary Jane walked faithfully by his side through treatments and his passing. She often said of his death, "He went from my loving arms to Jesus' ". Now she joins him in those comforting arms.

Mary Jane's legacy extends through her grandchildren: William, Alan, and Jackie (children of Tadd); Tyler, Cristian, and Alexander (children of Tami); and Damion and Merci (children of Paige). She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Ryder (child of William) and Greyson and Briella (children of Jackie).

Mary Jane's love for people was unmatched. Whether offering sage advice or a listening ear, she was a trusted wife, mother, sister, friend, and nurse. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Now it's our time to tell her "I love you angel good night"

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Second Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Barry Maust officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in MD State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Shircliff, Carlos Peña, Alan Nickerson, Kevin Hampson, Mike Iser Sr., Mike Iser Jr., Lou Brant, Caleb Lehman.
