Frostburg— Mary Virginia Whitacre, 87, of Wiley Ford, WV, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Peace Healthcare at Mountain City Center, Frostburg, MD.

Born May 7, 1937, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Albert H. and Dessie V. (Yokum) Whitacre. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Richard E. Whitacre, Georgia L. Chaney, Alta Mae Snoeberger and sister-in-law, Beatrice L. Whitacre.

Mary was a 1956 graduate of Ridgeley High School and attended Catherman's Business School, and an associate's degree from Institute West Virginia. She was a member of the Grace Communion International Church.

Mary was the last surviving member of her immediately family. She is survived by her nephews and nieces, Richard Whitacre, Dave Whitacre, Chuck and Teresa; and her many very special friends.

Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Wednesday, May 15th from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Pat Blubaugh and Pastor Silvia Bailey officiating.

Interment will be in Dans Run Cemetery, Fort Ashby, WV.
