Mary Josephine (Haselberger) Will, 90, of Cumberland, MD, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on October 22, 2025. She will be lovingly remembered for her bright spirit, many talents, and unwavering can-do attitude.
She was born August 23, 1935, in Cumberland to the late Joseph P. and Helen R. Haselberger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles (Chick) J. Will, and four of her siblings.
Mary graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1953. Afterwards, she worked at Keeches Pharmacy on Virginia Avenue, where she met Chick after he returned from his service in Korea. They married on January 3, 1956, and made a home for their five children. Later in life, she worked as a seamstress for Peskin's Department Store.
Mary savored summers at camp with her family and was a gifted cook and baker. She loved tending to her herb garden, relaxing on her porch, and taking evening walks. An avid reader, Mary enjoyed trips to the library with her children and grandchildren. She was also a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir. As a Eucharistic minister, she served the sick by taking them communion in the hospital.
Mary is survived by her five children: Stephen J. Will of Cumberland; Martha A. Huff and husband Richard of Clementon, NJ; Therese L. Will of Cumberland; Jennifer R. Chong and husband Steve of Cherry Hill, NJ; and Peter D. Will and wife Connie of Venetia, PA; nine grandchildren; two step-great-granddaughters; and two sisters, Helen "Penny" Thomas and Margaret S. Thomas.
In accordance with her wishes, she was cremated. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 7th, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, 300 E Oldtown Rd, Cumberland. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Uhl Hwy, Cumberland.
